Post subject:  just finished one

It's been a little while since I posted a finished guitar so I though I'd post this one. Just got strings on it last weekend. It seems like it's been slow going with a lot of other things going on.

Here's the specifics
- Carpathian spruce top
- Cocobolo Back & Sides
- 24 frets
- Spalted maple rosette
- Snakewood binding ( from Chris V. Thanks!)
- Kokopelli inlay on the headstock
- Elliot / Doolin style bridge
- Nitro finish

Nick, the neck's mahogany with Carbon fiber reinforcement in it.

Nice!
I'm really impressed with the Venetian cut-away,
and especially the back headstock plate.
How did you do that back plate?
Very unique!
Impressive build.

Anyone ever have this "double posting" problem with a mac book?

Beauty, Jim. I especially like your treatment of the back of the head stock. Great coco. Very cool.

Nicely done!
Also liking the treatment on the back of the headstock - and the purfling in the cutaway - sweet!

Jim,

That looks very elegant indeed with some very nice touches including the back of the headstock. Did you have any particular piece of music in mind for the 24th fret

That's a beauty Jim. Very impressive, but I would be really, really impressed to hear you did the backstrap inlay without CNC. It's a seriously cool look.

Cheers,
Danny

Very Nice Jim! I also like the inlay on the back of the headstock. I like the pinless bridge as well. Great looking rosette too!

Thanks guys, the 24 frets was at the request of the customer as the head stock inlay.

Danny and Alan, Yes I did use a cnc to pull the off the back of the head stock, but you could easily do it with a series of router jigs. I've been doing this for several years now on my guitars. This is the type of thing I think a cnc shines at in the small shop. I use it very little really, that, the inlay and the bridge, that's it. I might us ite more, but mine really sucks.

This guitar is headed for Switzerland, so David Berkowitz post on the Lacey act are helpful. Thanks for posting those David if you see this.

That mahogany looks awful light. I thought it was Port Orford perhaps.

Its 'more of a white balance issue with the camera. The Back picture really sucks I think. Working on getting a better one for my records.

Quite beautiful, Jim. I, too, like the treatment on the back of the headstock.

Jim, as lovely as usual. Interesting that a Swiss would want Kokopelli!

Nice one Jimmy James! Really, really like the backstrapping! Awesome effect!

24 frets! Great idea, your customer is to be applauded.

That spalted rosette is really a nice touch too. That reminds me the other day when the subject of a carpenter's age came up, he said "he was old enough to remember when splated just meant rotten wood" !!!! laughing6-hehe

I think it's all gooood!
