Post subject:  Source for Chladni Information...

I've been looking around quite a bit trying to fing how/why in regards to this subject, but have yet to discover a comprehensive source of info. I keep running into the same dead ends. Lots of speaker gadget setups, pretty picture of glitter patterns etc. but a paucity of reasoning and methodology. For instance, much mention is made of the ring mode, the ring plus mode, but what do these represent? A lot of you folks out there know exactly what you're doing. How did you learn, and where did you get your info?
Thanks kindly for any tips...

Search out and purchase Alan Carruth's video, a little long but very interesting information. Also joint the Left Brain Luthiers Yahoo group and search it for info.

I have done both. Perhaps I need to re-examine the search function on LBL. Alan's video seemed to start in on 201 without a 101 intro. I'll rewatch that as well...

Read everything you can find by Carruth and Mark Blanchard, and study the acoustics section at University of New South Wales (UNSW). Keep at it - the light will go on!
