I'm just finishing up #2 and 3, one for me and one for a nephew. Then moving on to #4 and 5, for 2 good friends. I'm charging them the cost of materials and a really good bottle of scotch :-)

Has anyone got a good recommendation for OM-sized gig bags? These guitars won't exactly be Calton-worthy, but I'd like some kind of reasonable protection at a not obscene price.

Thanks in advance

Steve

Steve,

I have been pleased by the bags from Access Bags and Cases. Good product nice price.
I don't use them myself but ordered them for a customer who is a pro muscian and he was pleased.

If you must go the gig bag route......
REUNION
BOULDER
ALPINE
LEVY

However, you can get a nice hard case for comparable price. I have bought several OM(OOO) size hard cases for under $100.

For a custom guitar make sure you get a depth measurement from the manufacturer as well as a lower bout measurement. I bought a Dickies gig bag from Musicians Friend a few year ago. It said it fit a 16" lower about guitar, so mine being a 15.75 or so,, I figured it would fit. I found out that the depth was only 4 inches so I cant zip the dang thing up all the way. Not good. I've seen cheap hard cases online for in the neighborhood of $50, you may want to do that instead. I'd rather have a cheap hard case than an expensive gig bag.

I've used Ritters for a couple of my early guitars and was impressed with them for a gig bag.

Hey Steve, congrats on the progress:) Have you tried giving Steve's a call or maybe L&McQ? I got a pretty cheap dread case at Steves (years ago) ... no shipping cost. Would love to run up the hill and have a peek at the guitars one day too! [:Y:] Al
