OK - after about a year and a few setbacks (errors ![]() I still have to do the fretting, finish sanding, and glue the bridge. Wish me luck - |

Very nice! 'twas not so long ago that I was in that position. Finish sanding out in nice weather is a good time. Took quite a while for me, getting all the rumples out of the sides and refining the neck and heel and headstock shape and rounding over all the bindings. But it's so pretty and the smoothness feels soft to the touch when it's all prepped up for that first wipe of shellac. Honestly it's tempting to keep one "white", just because it feels so nice ![]() Are you doing French polish on this one? It's painful by the end, but a lot of fun too... at least if you can get everclear so you can just sit somewhere comfortable and not worry about having super ventilation. Ought to be especially enjoyable if that back/side wood you've got there is as non-porous as its color would suggest. Don't forget to install the fingerboard side markers before finishing, if you're planning on including them! Unless you already did, but I can't see any in that second picture. |

Hey John - that is looking really great. The rosette seems really good from here. Would you care to give us a closer look at that? Well done! Mark |

Looks great, but be careful polishing with Everclear...especially if you are going to do a "one for you...one for me" type of job. It's unfortunate that you can't polish a guitar with Guinness. I would love to share a pint with every guitar I finished. |
