Just wondering how accurate they are and what downsides they might have compared to other duplicarvers (disregarding price, I'm looking at a used one)? Thanks, Peter Z |

Thanks, Peter Z I've not heard of a gemini carver. Do you have any pictures of one to show? I made mine and it does a great job of duplicating anything that will fit on it's table. Does it look like mine? |

Peter, I am looking forward to making something like Mark displays above. I think the big difference between the systems is the pivoting arm vs. the linear bearing, on something deep like a pickup pocket that cutter is moving in an arc, not straight up and down, but if you can score one on the cheap, seems to be a pro quality tool, but designed more for signs then guitars. I've seen them in action and talked with the maker at ASIA Symposia. They're very good, solid, durable. I understand the limitation of the router moving in an arc but that wouldn't matter for e.g. archtops and necks. |

Do you think you could make small 3D parts and hold an acceptable tolerance. How do they work for shaping necks (around the heel)? Could you use something like this to rout an oval rosette channel (with an appropriate template of course) or is that way too fine a type of work for something like this? Could you use it to slot a headstock and make the ramps or is the variability just going to be too much? Could you use it with a pointed bit/stylus for engraving? Just wondering what the outside limits of the product are... Any input appreciated.. Thanks, Peter Z |

They can be used to do inlay work, so they are very accurate.I'm going to make another one like mine for inlay work. I feel i could do it with the big one that i've made but i want something i can move around easier on a bench. |
