Go for it...it's perfect for that...assuming it's stable. One other thing Wes...if you'll use the search feature here you'll find an abundance of information on it. |

There's ALOT of variation in African Mahogany, assuming you're talking about Khaya instead of other species sometimes called African Mahogany. I've got a bunch of it. Some of it is relatively light, stiff, and really rings when tapped. Some of it is heavier, floppy, and taps like a wet towel. Pick your set carefully, and if you do everything else right you'll end up with a really nice guitar. Here an Sitka/African Mahogany L00 ish guitar here. http://www.brackettinstruments.com/27.mp3 Attachment: Sitka-African Mahogany W body.jpg Attachment: Sitka-African Mahogany W body2.jpg

I've been using Kyaya for necks lately (it's really light), and I like it. I've got several sets for backs and sides too, and I think it's a bit richer than Honduras (all dependent on density). It's OK by me for specific use ( we talking about tonal qualities here)... |

I'm doing a set of 3 mahogany/sitka tops next; after my 1st archtop electric build. Mahogany bends really nice by hand. I think it looks awesome with finish. Golden luster. |

Wes, I have sliced it up and used it for B/S. Works great. Later, Tony |
