Todd, as you say Taylor is the real deal. I hung with him a little at one of the Asia (?) conferences. And he was very approachable. He did a series of very practical articles for Guitarmaker magazine. A real nuts and bolts kind of guy. One I have looked back at as holding a lot of truth was the one about how everyone should own a welder. About 5 years after that I got one, and I know what he is talking about, now. The article showed stuff like bridge clamps that one could just tack together. As the saying goes "I got into metal work because I couldn't wait for the glue to dry".
There was also an article on making side benders using electrical resistance that seemed a little scary.
