Post subject: | Vintage guitar golpeador removal |
Hello All, Was thinking of buying a vintage 61 flamenco but it has 1 problem. Someone glued on a white golpeador on 1 side with hide glue, and the guitar has a clear golpeador on the other side. The guitar has a spruce top and is french polished. Is removing a golpeador glued on with hide glue a risky proposition with regards to damaging the top under it? I have removed a couple of clear mylar golpeadors with a heat gun and goop be gone with no problems but this I suspect is a far more complicated project that I would have done by a professional. Thanks.... |

White meaning plastic or wood? I would gently feel under it with the same tool I use for bridge removal a thinned and rounded edge putty knife. Hide glue can separate easily if used on plastic. Go slow. Mike |
