I stumbled on this and thought it would be of interest with the recent threads on Denatured Alcohol and Favorite Finishes. Joel at Tools for Working Wood has added this Shellac Solvent (Anhydrous Ethanol with 0.5% Rubber Solvent (Hydrocarbon Distillate) denaturant) with no Methanol or other funky stuff.

The MSDS is here:

He claims it dissolves flakes faster and produces a harder surface than regular off the shelf DNA. Has anyone tried it? Not a bad price compared to Everclear which I can not get in North Carolina now without a major hassle.

My local Woodcraft store carries this product. I use it to mix shellac. Although I do not have the experience to notice the difference between this $10 product and the cheaper can of denatured alcohol from the hardware store.
