It was close, but I got it done! This is a parlor I made for my nephew who was very excited about the toyish guitar Grandma got him a couple of years ago but was unplayable and tore apart. This is also the first instrument I completed completely in my own shop without any help fro others. (Asking questions doesn't count.) There were many breaks to make jigs, machines, and mistakes. I am very pleased with how it turned out. It has a really nice sound with a lot of punch. It is quite loud. Pictures were sent from Dad and Grandpa. B/S and rosette - Padauk from a guy who's wife banned him from bring any more of that orange sawdust into the house again. Binding - purpleheart - looks great with the padauk (for now). Neck - scrap either mahogany or sapelle with purpleheart lamination top - bargain sale sitka from RC Fretboard and bridge - bloodwood (makes me sneeze) Bridge is capped with purpleheart. I call it a design feature, but you all know the truth. I'll get it back to finish set-up in a month or so. I'll also do a slightly wider saddle. (My jig slipped, so I need to cut a wider slot.) Thanks for looking. Mike |

A fine guitar can be a great source of inspiration for someone learning to play. Congrats on a fine looking build! Btw, I love the orientation of the grain on the rosette. Simple, but it really makes it pop! |
