Anyone done this? I'm looking for some pictures of progress or finished work. Koa B/S with lacewood binding/tail graft.

I've done Lacewood with Cocobolo and with EIR, don't know why it wouldn't be great with Koa!

Thanks for the repy Waddy, I was wonder if I'd get any hits on this topic.

The Koa isn't as dark as EIR or Coco which is sort of what I'm thinking is sort of......hhhmmmmmmmmm......

Think I'll have to glue a strip of the Lacewood to the outside edge of the back to see if I like it or not. I'll post pics in a few days for feedback.

Hi Rod,

Interesting. Koa comes in all sorts of hues. What kind of effect are you after? Are you looking for comparable tones or contrast? I used lacewood on an EIR OM, and the combination was very striking. I used the lacewood to liven up some rather boring rosewood. If your koa already has a lot of bling, you could have a lot of stuff going on. But that may be what you are after.

I was thinking using the lacewood for the contrast....but I was also doubting it for the same reason you mention Ken, to busy.

I'm thinking I'll go darker on the bindings and trim. Thinking I'll go with EIR trim all around with the blackwood standing out on its own. I think that will be a classier look.
