Yes, 8-10 weeks ago they raised the price to match Somogyi's, and last week they lowered it for an Xmas special. In Canada it has stayed at $183.64 with free shipping all along. ![]() Bob |

I bought it at the Canadian price, and I thought it was a good deal. First there is the fact that the Canabuck is still slightly south of the US dollar, and you don't pay the business news rate when buying. Second it does come from further. Third there wasn't any shipping charge which is rare up here, though obviously part of their standard policy. And finally it is a pretty ersatz volume. The real problem dealing with Amazon.ca is that they don't stock most of the books their US brother does, and virtually none of the merchandise. I got the book on Wednesday, after ordering it monday. Overall I am pleased with the service. Normally I buy like 10 new books and send them via a friend in the US. Often by the time I get the books I wonder why I ordered them. |

After opening Christmas presents this morning, my Wife and Kids gave me money towards the books. I just ordered them from Amazon.ca and the only difference in price after exchange was $13. Now, I do have a US shipping address where I can pick up from but it can be inconvenient some times to get down there. Looking forward to getting the books. |

Couldn't resist and just ordered a copy. But shipping to Germany is outrageous. ![]() |

Hello Christoph, i am also from Germany and also orderd these Books, which is kind of special and circle-closing for me because during my apprenticeship i worked together with Ervin Somogyi. So now i am exited about these books. But what kind of problems did you have with shipping to Germany? Best regards, Alex |

My wife ordered "The Responsive Guitar" for me for Christmas and it has been back ordered at Borders. It was $102 including shipping and taxes. I've read mixed reviews about "Making the Responsive Guitar". Since the other book was back ordered, I could always cancel that order and buy the 2 book set for $163........which is essentially buying the second book, Making the Responsive Guitar, for $61. Is it worth $61 for the second book, Making the Responsive Guitar? What would I learn that is different from other "how to build" books? Will I learn any concepts in that book that aren't covered in the first book, The Responsive Guitar? Thanks! |

It's truly up to you, and the "Making" book is not as technical as "The Responsive Guitar", but it's full of good stuff, IMO. Just the end notes are worth the price. |

^ agree with Waddy. The first book is the one I read over and over again, but the second has a lot of great information as well. The chapter on French polishing is excellent. Also, the books reference back and forth to eachother occasionally so it would be irritating not knowing what you're missing out on. Definitely would grab it for $61. |

I really like the Making Of book. It has the most detailed instructions on binding that I've seen published anywhere. It's also interesting to see some of his jigs and how he builds, because a good portion of his stuff (like his neck joints) is not typical construction. |
