I'm venturing into laminated linings on one of my current builds and I'm evaluating the direction I'll take gluing them in. Anybody see a reason CA would not be a good choice for gluing laminated linings to the rims? I mean, seriously. I'm just doing a two piece lamination and I'm thinking that fitting one lamination at a time and wicking the CA from the inside would be a quick, easy method with little cleanup. Not to mention fast. You can glue the linings about as fast as you can clamp them, then by the time you get the other linings in place come back and glue the second lamination in.

I know it "can" be done, of course. You all may remember Kevin's guitar put together completely with CA. In fact, I'm probably going to try it anyway, just wondering if y'all see anything as a down side? I still use HHG for anything where the top is concerned - including gluing the top to the rim. I just don't see a downside to using it for the linings. Many of us already use CA for gluing the bindings, which means we have effectively replaced half of the original glue joint with CA, anyway.

Thoughts?

Wes: I would think the only concern would be fit. Most likely not a problem with laminated linings. With kerfed linings there tends to be facets on the bends and that may take a couple of glue applications. Have a go and let us in on how it turns out .

Well, I'm sure somebody would have jumped in and told me if it was a stupid idea, so I guess I'll go ahead and give it a shot. idunno

Many people use CA for lots of guitar related things...
I have talked to people who use it for tentellones
I use it for bindings all the time -- I see no reason it wouldn't work just fine for linings....

Have at it and then post back how it went.

Thanks
