Here are some amatuer shots of one that I just got the strings on. I am very impressed with the sound on this one. The peghead is marquetry. It is a picture of an orchid from my cousin's neighbor's garden in Brazil. This guitar will be at the Healdsburg show in August of next year. Steve Devries will also be performing on this guitar this coming weekend while in Denver for a guitar critique masterclass and concert at RRCC.
I must credit Kent Everett for the inspiration on this one and my parrot guitar. He had a floral series he did a few years back with marquetry on the peghead.
The basic materials are from an LMI unserviced kit.
EIR back and sides
Sitka spruce top
Ebony fretboard, end wedge, bridge, fretboard
Green purfling lines around all binding, fretboard, inlay rosette
Spruce top bracing
Mahogany neck, back bracing, kerfing, blocks
Black mini Gotoh's for tuners
Pickup - B Band A2.2 under saddle and under soundboard blend system
Finish is lacquer

Very nice! Love the headstock.
Pic of whole guitar would be nice, to see how it works together

Wow, out of my league for sure. Only thing I might do differently (in hind sight) is use a thin, black purfling line between the green and the spruce (on the rosette). Beautiful.

I have to hand it to anyone who has the stones to put colour into a guitar. Very cool. Some of the purfling looks a little washed out though. Maybe just the photo? That marquetry looks flawless. Nice! [:Y:]

Wow! Cool headstock for sure.

P.S.--tell Steve hello for me... he used to live here in Nacogdoches.
