I am finding myself starting to look like a hoarder (let's face it I LIKE WOOD!) The logs I am processing from right now have some very nice sets but they also have a good number of sets that have issues that will make getting a guitar template out of them a bit difficult. I have stashed away a 100 or so of these sets for a future project I have in mind (just cause they are so nice!) but still have a whack of them here. These sets will work perfect for remanning uke and flattop mandolin sets, for bridge patches, soundhole patches, back grafts and any number of other spruce products. As I said the wood itself is fabulous and these are cut as if they were mastergrade sets, that is from hand split billets and paying close attention to issues of runout and the lot. Anyway, I have boxes that will hold 13 sets. Shipping to the US will be $34 (a bit more to Aus and Europe ($79 I think) and bit less to Canada ($28 but GST will be added [xx(] ). I have enough on hand for 15 packages for sure and maybe more and I will be making more soon. So a box of these sets will be $100. Less than $10 per set. Here are a couple pics of a couple sets I pulled and sanded at random (they will NOT be sanded but sawn when shipped).

I have a couple of these sets that I will be making a couple of small classicals from and I am sure that with careful planning some will get awesome fullsize guitar sets as well. But I make promises in that regard and I WILL NOT sort these as I will be just placing 13 sets in a box and then when the order is made I will label the box and get it off to the post office.

So, $100 plus relevant shipping paid via paypal, mastercard or visa. This wood is awesome, if not for the defects these are all top self sets  (what a statement but I hope you know what I mean!)

Thanks

Shane

I will take a box Shane. I also want to try one of those new Gotoh ultra small tuner sets. Ideally in black with the shortest post available. Actually, I will pm you with the specifics.

Thanks

wow. wish I had the dough. What's the story on those little knots? Do they affect strength much? Or are they even knots? Forgive my ignorance.

Looks like some very nice multi-piece tops could be put together!

I'm a bit maxed out on my wood spending for the time being...for guitar wood anyway. Otherwise I'd be interested in some. I'll be PM'ing you about some spruce for oars.

Hi Shane,
I might be interested. What are the dimensions ( LxWxThickness) of the tops? How are they different from the "A" grade tops you normally sell?

The dimensions are about .2 x 8.375 x 21.75. These are 'A' Grade by the definition on my web site. These are nice and white and will make awesome components and some smaller instrument tops and THEY ARE $7.70 PER SET! The issues are the "inclusions" (small pitch pockets usually accompanied by localized distortion in the grain, so localized grain runout from a knot shadow...those types of things). I processed a bunch of these for some pic'n'sticks for a customer and they looked really nice (the tops, I haven't seen the finished instruments yet).

Hope that helps!

Thanks

Shane

I need some spruce for bracing on ES 335 (contour brace) Dimensions approximately 4 X18 X 5/16. I will take a box if you have it. I can cut it myself if you have something close.

They are dry Hen. They have been dried by my current method and stored in a heated space. As always, one needs to acclimate their wood to their build environment before proceeding. But since these pieces are not thick acclimation happens quickly.
