Would this stuff help me to bend 1/8" plywood for the soundboard and back for a double bass? I have tried using an iron over a male-mold with so-so results.

Steve, do you wait longer after bending before glueing end blocks and lining after using SS? |

I spray it on, wipe excess off and wait overnite. Bend it, heat it up good, let it cool, then quickly take off the top slat, blanket and paper. Clamp it back in and let it sit overnite. Next day, clamp it in the mould and bend the other side...soon as the second side is done, I cut them to size and glue in the blocks. |

I've played with soaking small pieces in SS2 for several hours. You can just about bend it without heat! Your mileage may vary. Nelson |

Thanks, I was talking to a builder / friend who has a few sets from 'The Tree" got from me. He knows it can be prone to breaking while bending sides, especially for cut-a-ways and asked me about best ways to bend it. I had read that in bending Quilted Mahogany that less water is better. (I think from Frank Ford on frets.com) I'm not foolish enough to do it myself. Anyhow, I recommend Super Soft but really had never seen it used.  I'm about to billet this table for resaw. Billeting my last boards was one of the most stressful things I've ever done. LOL At 13 1/2 feet long. I can't get it to my brothers cabinet shop without renting a large truck and some stronger men than me. ![[uncle]](./images/smilies/surrenderflagqv6.gif "Uncle") I stare at my chalk lines, tape measure  , c-claps, skill saw and guide board, saying NO. Rent the truck, take it to the shop!

Sure thing Kent. Make sure you let it soak in good before wiping off the excess. If I go more than 24 hours, I re-spray and wait before bending. |
