I bought one of these a few years ago. With light use, in a few months the switch got flaky and wouldn't turn the machine off. The switch would move, but the toggle mechanism inside would stick, keeping power on. I cleaned it out, put it back together, and it was fine for another few months. Went through this three or four times over the next couple years, even with a new switch from Rikon. It's doing it again, and I'm ready to put a real switch in it, even foregoing the safety key if necessary. Anybody else have this problem?

I had the same problem. I just bought a separate corded switch and bipassed the one on the machine.

Sounds like a plan, Jimmy. Thanks.

Were it me, I'd take it even a step further and get a foot switch. They're mighty handy in their own way.

Sheesh! I've had one for years and haven't known what to do with it. Thanks, Bill!

I had the same experience with my Rikon drill press. They were great about getting me a new switch ASAP.

Mike,

They were great getting me one too. But it was the same crappy switch!

I use a dead-man foot switch on my drill press. Keeps me from having to take a hand off to turn it off if something happens.

Mine was the same too. Didn't know if mine had been a fluke or not, Sounds like it is, in fact, crappy.

Yea, they are lousy switches. I've had trouble with Delta disc (replaced twice so far), Powermatic bandsaw ( 1), and Crapsman drill press (1). I've got a couple extra new, but when they run out I'll likely go to some other switch.
