I was thinking about the Rockler spray system http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... ilter=hvlp but couldn't find much info on it. I know it's rated very well but I was worried about the max air flow pressure. It says it is 4 psi. I don't know much about these (never sprayed before)...is that low or normal? I def. going to be spraying lacquer (most likely water based).

Typically you want 40 psi at the gun for standard HVLP then adjust the gun accordingly. For waterbourne, you want a 1.4 mm nozzle for efficient flow, and a gravity fed gun is best. That said, I'm not familiar with the "low pressure" system you linked above.

4 to 8 psi in a HIGH VOLUME LOW PRESSURE set up is normal. I have a couple 4 stage turbines that work well. I don't know how many stages yours is, but at most, you'd have to possible thin your material a bit. I paid almost $1,000 for my capsprayer. Enjoy the savings!
