Do any of you use these in the shop. If so do they really work? Which ones do you use? |

I have a pair by AO Safety. They're great. Sound much better than the video game speakers I have the IPod plugged into. You only need batteries for it if you want to listen to the radio. |

I use them on long aircraft trips and they do work. My brother has Bose and they are the gold standard. They are also pricey. Mine are Sony and my opinion is that they equal seventy or eighty percent of Bose capability but they are ten or fifteen percent of the Bose price. Choose carefully. Bob ![]() |

I have a pair of Phillips noise canceling headphones in the shop. They are designed to cancel the low frequency rumble of an aircraft more than the high pitched whine of a router, but they do help some. I mount my MP3 player on them so I don't have cords dangleing around me, and when I take them off the player stays with them. |

They're not "noise canceling," but I really like the JVC marshmallow ear buds. About $20 at Best Buy, probably at Walmart or Target, too. They fit like a foam ear plug so they are comfortable and block out a fair amount of outside sound. I don't use them in the shop, though. If I'm doing something really loud like mowing the lawn or something like that, regular ear protectors fit over them just fine and then I can keep the volume down on the music to a pleasurable level. |

I swear by these from Rockler. They are good in the car, too. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page ... ear%20plug |
