Hello all, I am starting my first build and I am having some trouble with my sander. I have an 18" Palmgrem drum sander, that is discontinued by the way. I am trying to change the paper and it is completely beating me. Does anyone know the trick to attaching the paper to the drum? It seems that they don't sell paper for the sander. I have found paper for a Grizzly sander that seems to be the same thing as I have, but if I cut the paper at all, it completely shreds when I turn the machine on. Any ideas? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Does your drum have a side with a spring loaded tensioner ?

I have seen the sander you have and it does seem to be the same as the Grizzly and also the Sears. One nice thing about the Grizzly website it that you can view and download manuals for there machines I would do this. As John said look at the two ends of the drum and look at the clips one is usually spring load to keep the paper tight. I have a delta and this is the way it is set up. You start on the non-spring loaded end and finish at the end with the spring loaded chip. Sand paper is generic so you should be able to use Grizzly's paper. Your machine was probably built in the same factory as the Sears and the Grizzly so parts may be the same. Good luck I hope this helps.

I have the Dayton from Grainger. It seems to be the same sander. If you can't get it from looking at the online manuals, pm me and maybe I can walk you through it over the phone. I use the Grizzly sandpaper they sell for their 18/36 sander.

Make sure you're not overlapping the wraps. I'm assuming you know this, but just in case ;)
