Post subject:  big bandsaw thread?
wasnt there a really lengthy bandsaw thread here recently? searching the forum returned quite a few resluts, but not the long one i was thinking of. seems like it was 3 pages or more. am i remembering incorrectly? any help finding it would be appreciated.

it was one of those threads (if my memory serves me) that i never read, then it blew up and i thought, "im going to have to come back to this when i can sit down and actually read the whole thing." well, im just now getting around to it and now i cant find it. i believe it discussed the various larger bandsaws such as the 19" griz you mentioned and some of the other saws in that category.

im in the market and im trying to decide if the money for the 19" (G0514X2B) grizzly is worth it or if i should stick with the 17" (G0513X2B). id like to eventually do some resawing and the 3HP machine with its extra power and beefiness is appealing. will the 2HP machine handle resawing full 8-9" width exotics?

i thought it had been discussed in detail, but i cant find it. sorry for rehashing the same old thing.

no arguement from me. i think that saw was the authors best overall choice if remember correctly. thats a pretty decent accolade. i can swing the money, but 400 bucks would buy another tool or some tonewood. it seems like what a lot of peole say is go for the bigger saw if you can, but i really dont hear anyone saying that the 17" isnt enough. know what i mean?

a nice combo disc/spindle sander is exactly what i was eye-balling. i completely hear you on the wishing you had gone bigger regret factor though. in the end, im sure the 19" will win out. thanks again.

I believe you are thinking of this thread.... I never did post pics of the saw that I bought. I will have to do that to cap it off. In addition I will have to photograph the Proxxon mini wet bandsaw that will arrive next month giving me one large, one medium (if I ever upgrade it the guides and blade to make it usable) and one very small bandsaw.

A lot of home prices in the DC area haven't really dropped that much. Maybe you'd be better off looking somewhere that up is the only way to go, like Michigan, or parts of upstate NY, or California.

What's the reason for Fort Myer? I know a lot of soldiers that have been stationed there, so i can ask if you are set on that as the place for you.

there's a lot of bandsaw threads on a variety of topics. For whatever reason, that one got dragged out for quite some time. A great reference though for anyone in the market for a bandsaw, regardless of what size said person is looking for.
