Hi Brad
That is very elegant looking guitar. I especially like the "back strap" on the peg head. Could you describe your technique for making and installing the back strap? Do you use a router on the back of the neck behind the first fret area?

Oh yeah, that works! [clap] [clap] [clap]
What size is the lower bout on that Brad?

Beautiful guitar Brad. That Cuban is definitely a cut above what one normally sees. Good to see some of it still floating around. Bet that one sounds great.

Oh man, that's nice.
Cuban puts the ahh in mahogany, doesn't it?

NICE BRAD!
I love small guitars.
The Cuban Hog is beautiful.
I like the back of the head also.
How's she sound?

That IS sweet! The black and gold on the peghead really does it for me - classy.

Wow nice work and great looking wood, the figure on the back is outstanding. As already stated small guitars are real cool and look good with a solid peg head instead of the usual slotted type. I have a future project to build something like this for my grand daughter.

Thanks for the kind words-I am really happy with the aesthetics of this guitar.

Steve Frady,
The backstrap is simply an overlay (no routing)-the only thing is I account for the thickness of the veneer behind the first fret so the neck does not become too thick there. Then I feather it in.

Joe,
It is a standard Martin 12 fret o size-13-1/2" at the lower bout.

Tim,
This was a special batch of Cuban, that I was selling a few years ago-I probably sold around 100 sets as nice as this one, unfortunately I only managed to save 4 or 5 sets for my own use.

Mike,
She sounds great! The trebles are "there"-the bass is really good and is opening up every day-It will take a few months(at least) for the varnish to really cure, then I am sure it will be even better.
It is really loud as well for such a small instrument.

That is an awesome guitar. Understated elegance.
I bought a set of that Mahogany from your around 5 years ago and haven't used it yet. I think it is about time.

Very nice. That Mahogany is particularly nice. The tuning machines are nice too. What do you think of them now?

Douglas,
I really like the Gotohs, very smooth, machined nicely. These are the ones with the solid brass gear from LMI-The buttons are black plastic I would have preferred ebony, otherwise for the money I think they are the best deal out there.

Beautiful guitar Brad. That Cuban mahogany looks very similar to a set I won on an auction here some time back. Gives me something to look forward to.

Lovely Guitar, Brad. Love Cuban mahogany AND the backstrap.
I did one on my recent parlour, but that one wasn't planned. I thicknessed the head before I got the tuners & Oops, too thin!!! "Guess I'd better do a back strap."
The side of the peghead looks very cool, with the tuners framed in Macassar ebony.
I used the Gotohs too & really like the look & feel of them. The ivoroid buttons look great too.
LMI seems to be the only ones carrying those tuners.
