i have a guitar body built, binding on the backside, not yet on the top, setting on a table in the corner of my shop under the gas furnace, big rain storm rolls through, minor leak except for the fact that it was on the top of the guitar body, about 8" of the top has come loose, a small crack ( about 5/8" ) and the top is a little wavy in a small area, i can clean the loose area up and reglue, what about the wavy top & the crack ? has this happend to anyone else out there ? thanks james |

I'd post some pictures so that the experts can get a better visual of the crack, loose top and any other damage etc. It's hard to visualize how best to approach those repairs without seeing exactly where they are located and just how invasive they really are. While use of descriptive language is important, the old adage of "A picture is worth a thousand words" will get you not only more advice, but more extensive advise. |

If the guitar is for yourself - then I guess you can follow the repair advice that will be given. If ti is for someone else - then I would retop it - especially since you don't even have the binding on yet. Is it cedar or spruce ? |
