Is there a way to determine where to leave the peaks on scalloped bracing? I've read so many different things, and so many different opinions, I don't know what to believe. I have a Santa Cruz 00 all mahogany, with scalloped bracing, and it sounds fantastic. As I cyle through playing my three different guitars, everytime I get to my OO, I'm amazed at how much quality sound I get from such a small guitar. I was thinking of just trying to copy it, as far as the bracing goes, but I'm using carpathian spruce, and I figured it would need different brace shaping than a mahogany. I know that since it's my first build, I'm not going to be able to tell much difference, since I have nothing to compare it to. I just want this thing to sound good! Any tips on locating the scalloped peaks is greatly appreciated.

About 3 inches in from the edge is what I've heard most often.

Is that 3" along the brace from where it meets the side, or to the nearest point on the edge?

Along the brace from what I understand.
