Hi all, I am contemplating getting some veneer from Madinter in Spain. I have used their stuff in the past and have been very happy with it for purflings, rosettes, etc. All are excellent quality Sycamore in 0.5 mm thickness (individual sheets may be up to 0.09 mm thicker). Comes in sheets of varing width and 83 cm (32 in+) long. Available in natural, black, red, green, yellow and blue. You can check out colors, etc. on their website at http://www.madinter.com/. Cost is $10.78 per square meter for natural and $14.70 per square meter for colored veneers. Shipping cost and export duties make it somewhat prohibitive for small individual orders. Larger group orders make it more affordable by spreading those costs out. If anyone is interested or has questions, please let me know. I will break up the order and ship to you individually at cost. Hi Filippo, I hadn't looked at LMI for veneers for a long time. I think they only used to have sticks and strips. Anyway, there is an advantage in price for sheets (I don't know about LMI's quality). For about the price one sheet of the LMI veneer you get about 6 of the Madinter sheets of about the same size. Shipping and duties, etc. may be an issue, though. I looked at Gurian's website and didn't see any sheets for sale. Maybe I missed it. Max |

This is way too funny. I once ordered 1x sycamore from Madinter, I was out and needed to get some necks from them anyway. The price was more than LMI but oh well. So I open the box and see this big stack of veneer, in any case more than 6. I did not appreciate they were curled, but heck they were many and the curls anyway don't matter after cutting in stripes. I simply thought they sent them for free cause they were curled, never noticed they sell by the m2 not sheet

Alex, You can actually buy them by the sheet, but they charge you by the square meter (or fraction thereof). I've carried them home on the plane and had them sent by a friend and never got them curled as you describe. Max |

You might also try Wood River Veneer in Idaho. Their dyed veneers are French-made, so I'm told, and I've been very happy with all of them. .3 and .6mm thicknesses, many colors, good people. |

Have you checked for veneer suppliers here in the US? There are quite a few of them that seem less expensive than what you've posted. |

Herzog veneer is also very good, cheap, and has lots of colors and natural woods. |
