LMI sent a maple bridge plate that is about .125 inches thick. Is that too heavy? It's for a red spruce top dreadnought. |

Others my differ from opinion, but I would reduce it to about .090''-.100''. |

It would be hard to make a determination that .125 is either too thick, not thick enough, or just right, in my opinion, without knowing the thickness of the top, and the stiffness of the top,not to mention the bracing and probably some other variables. |

I'd go with about 0.10 - 0.11", but, as Alain said, others may differ. Anyway, wood suppliers don't normally supply woods to finished thicknesses IME. |

It depends on the thickness/stiffness of the top, as well as the bracing and size of the bridgeplate. Just like pretty much everything else there is on uniform measurement. |

Martin uses .100 I like them about the same regardless of top thickness or stiffness |

How exactly do you set your bridge plate thickness based on the thickness of the top and braces? And what is the logic behind it? |

Too thick. .100 is plenty. |
