Since most of the interest was for Sunday the 7th I called Paul today and we are a go on that day from 1 pm until 5 pm. We have decided one of the topics we would like to discuss will be voicing and finding your sound. Last time we talked more about materials so we would like to talk about how we achieve the sound we get. Any other ideas on topics would be appreciated as we can certainly do more than one. Bring in some show and tell items, such as in progress builds, favorite jigs, home made tooling etc. We will have a sound system set up for an open mic if anyone wishes to play.

If you haven't yet attended one of our BlueFish gatherings, come and check it out, we have had a great and informative time at the last two. Paul is a great host and his store is a good location.

Not sure yet if I can make it but, for a topic, how about someone present a method of measuring deflection to calculate E and pass out a one pager with the details. I believe Pete L. does this now and I seem to recall that he's going to be there. This also falls into line with the voicing discussion. For bonus points, we can discuss how to use this E value to come up with an equivalent stiffness in two different tops by adjusting thickness (at least long grain).

Al Carruth has always proposed that we start getting the word out and communicating in a standard engineering language so that we can get the point across better to one another. I agree.

Even cooler would be if someone who knows could present on how do get cross grain and long grain stiffness in one measurement - I believe Al is doing this sonically right now (IIRC).

Great! And very glad to hear voicing is going to be a topic, timely for me. Hopefully I can bring along the soundboard for my first acoustic that is underway right now and you guys can point out all my mistakes. :)
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I plan on heading over there, but will have to leave at 3:30-4:00. Looking forward to it. Planning on locking myself in a room for a few hours with Fred's Bubinga Wedge.

I'd like to see some free plate tuning useing Chladni Mode Patterns created by a signal generator. That would be cool.

I would like to see this also, I have only managed to burn out speakers. I have some other things that are working decent for me but the Chladni techniques would add to this.
