I started sanding down my top coats (sprayed nitrocullulose) and can see that I did not do a good enough job filling. What can I do about it now?

It is possible to fill after the top coats.... I have done it on a few occasions. Just apply the filler as you normally do, let it dry, then sand flush. My finish is lacquer, and the filler is latex based.
