Hi gang -

Have a client that has provided two little gold inlays..anyone have experience inlaying metal? Would that go under the finish, or glue on after? I'm using Target's EM6000 water-based lacquer.

Thanks!

Jon

I've used silver, gold & aluminum (which looks just as good as silver under finish) & finished over top without a problem. The "gold" I used is not the real thing. It is a gold substitute sold in jewellery & lapidary shops. I don't know how well lacquer would stick to gold.
I have seen brass inlays tarnish under finish. The lacquer lost its bond & chipped off.
I don't have any experience with waterborne finish, so can't say how well it would bond.
