Post subject:  Performax 2244ST Drum Sander Feedback?

I have a line on an older (~8yo) Performax 2244ST drum sander. This one was converted to a 1.5HP Dayton motor from radial arm saw PTO and has seen very little use. Has anyone had experience with one of these? Other than obvious (Belt tracking, paper attachment, height adjustment, electrical) issues is there anything I should be aware of on these? I am upgrading from a Ryobi WDS1600.
Thanks!

I've had one for at least a few years now and love it. Never a problem. Sure speeds things up to be able to sand across the grain on plates.

By the way, I don't know what the ST stands for but mine looks like this.

I have it too. Replaced my Delta with it. The performax is VASTLY better than the delta. It's a nice machine a and I'm really happy with it.

It's an older model prior to the Jet buyout. 220V 1.5HP drum motor.

I have the more contemporary version of the 22/44, and I'm very happy that I purchased it. As others have said, a great time/labor saver. And equipped with a 60 gr belt, it's especially effective in doing the preliminary thicknessing of that gummy EIR.

Thanks folks!
My big concern is the depth of cut adjustment on this model and how precise the increments of change are. My Ryobi has a fixed table and there is a smooth change to raise or lower the drum. When I'm dealing with a 1/2mm change I don't wan't to spend 15 minutes doing trial and error.

I have the 2244 plus. Great investment. Great tool and I'm still a novice. Cant wait to see what I can do with it when I know what I'm doing.
