Anyone tried this? I'm hoping to use Pear/Walnut and Ferrous acetate for an Ebony alternative. On standard thin veneer and using a pressure cooker it's quite possible to get the dye completely through the wood. Now I'm hoping to extend it to Bindings and head plates but with something a little more than just surface penetration.

Never heard of it. Do you have a link to an article that describes it?

Here's one:

Although it seems he is using standard thin veneers. If I can get it to penetrate to a depth of 0.5 - 0.8mm from any one edge it might be worth pursuing. That depth should allow for any wear (over a long time period) and it might be useful for fretboards.
I don't have a Vacuum pump set up at the moment.
