What is Glint or Glair? What are you trying to do? Shellac is one of the best sealers out there if you want to protect from rapid humidity changes. Outperforms all man mades that I'm aware of. |

Again, what are you trying to accomplish? I.e seal the interior from what? There are lots of people here who've used egg white to pore fill but I'm not one of them. Hopefully they'll chime in. |

Actually egg white by itself is not a good pore filler. It works with sawdust, i.e., wet egg white, and sand with 220 paper, then squeegee the slurry into the pores. Takes several passes, but it does work. Colin Symonds uses the method often, and I have used it once. However, egg white is an excellent sealer, and is a good sizing agent for tops. I never thought about using it for sealing the inside of the guitar. Don't see why it wouldn't work, but it might attract dirt some. Lutes used to be finished with egg white, at least the tops were. |

I've used egg white a lot as a method of pore filling, as Waddy described, and also as a size on the top before finishing. I've used it as well when restoring original German lutes where it was often used as the only finish on the top. Making a glaire however is not needed, just used straight from the egg after separating from the yolk is fine. To answer the original question it will work fine to seal the inside of an instrument, and has ben used for this, though if you want to seal the inside a coat of shellac is better, and less likely to attract mould.
