I read somewhere that the width of the cut can be fine-tuned by wrapping the guide bearing with aluminum tape. Anyone heard of this that can elaborate or have an alternate method? Thanks.

It works. Doesn't have to be aluminum. Thin masking, thick masking, Stew-Mac brown tape. Paper tape will compress if you get a few layers on there but you can take that into account.

Thanks Kent. I'll do some experimenting.

I had the tape spin off a bearing once. (Probably old tape, or I didn't clean the bearing first) Now I run a layer of tape around the guitar, instead.

I used the tape on the guitar trick with no problems.
