I don't understand your question but the name of the joint that you're picturing is called a rabbet.

Are all the joints glued or are you looking for a friction fit?

Thanks for the reply i couldnt get any luck with google
i should have explained my question better

Basically i was wondering what kind of joint would be the
strongest/most suitable joint to acompany the rabbet joint .....
(I havent cut the rabbet yet so i still have all the meat)

Bearing in mind of the mortice and tenons are benath and that
theirs going to be a vise there

Sorry if its a bit off topic
thanks
tomas

IMO the skirt (the short part connecting the legs at the upper end of the leg assembly) should be a glued mortise and tenon joint and the stretcher (the long span) should be an unglued stub tenon with a bed bolt type connector through the leg into the stretcher in order to be able to knock down the joint.
