Post subject:  Removing a headstock

Hey everyone, I glued the scarf joint for the headstock on the mandolin I'm building, but after some reading and observation, I have come to the decision to remove the headstock and join it as a volute, as in, join the headstock on the top of the ramp rather than the bottom of the neck blank. What's the best way to remove the headstock without removing wood? I do have enough left on the headstock to do this so it will work, I just want to know the best way to go about it.

Well ... without removing wood ... it will need heat .. but you will likely end up warping one or both pieces, requiring cleanup with a plane .. so you might as well take it off on the bandsaw with a fine blade ... can you afford a 1/16 or so ??

Ha, no prolly not. I'll just cut it off and plane. Hopefully that'll go nice and smooth.
