Switching from ColorTone filler on my next box, I have been using the ColorTone stain to color the filler. I am thinking instead I might mix a little fine sawdust in with the Z-Poxy to darken it.

Thoughts?

I too was wondering why you are dyeing the epoxy, unless you want the pores to show.

Try Z-poxy on some scrap tonewood and you will see as stated already no color is needed, it makes the wood come to life all alone. It is best to practice a little at 1st as it can be a little frustrating if you leave too much on when you apply. Watch the video Todd did and note how much he applies at the start, I learned the hard way how little is needed, too much will lead to lots of sanding.

Cool. I will try it on scrap first, I assumed that like when using the colortone filler, filled pores look better when dark, as open pores in wood naturally look darker because of the shadowing effect. Since the epoxy filler is clear I guess it would make sense the shadow effect would still occur. But I will try it on scrap and see which I like better!

thanks!
