Walnut back and sides. Enony pyramid bridge. Canadian Cedar top. Sapele' neck.

Excellent Bert! I bet it sounds great. How did you find Sapele to work with for the neck. I have a couple of boards and was going to try a neck with it.

Danny it works just like Mahogany to me. I did notice that it is a little stringy...meaning you have to watch grain direction when spoke shaving on the rough-out. It sands just like Mahogany and fills about the same when finishing.

It seems to have a balanced output on the sound of it but with the cedar top it isn't as bright or as loud as a Spruce topped guitar. This was my first Cedar top and I was told up front it would be not as bright as a Spruce top and that person was right. It may play in and get brighter only time will tell.

Your comment about the lack of "brightness" of the guitar is interesting. My experience (limited though it is) with Cedar tops is that they had an "open" sound almost from the beginning, where spruce tops take some time to break in, and acheive a fuller sound. Given, "brightness" and "openness" aren't the same thing - yeah, I know, I've opened that "objective description of musical tones" can of worms, but my cedar 000 was open, as well as bright. Did you change any other design characteristics that might account for the guitar not being "bright"?

I was looking beyond your very cool guitar at your shop, what's on the walls, benches etc and it looks like a great guitar shop. If you ever wanna post pics of your shop I would love to see it.

Corky, I actually had a long Internet conversation with Cumpiano about bracing any guitar lighter than you think you can. He suggested that I leave off a rather large traverse brace under the end of the fingerboard because the plan called for two. He offered that the fat brace was just along for the ride. So I left it off and split the difference between the two places down the middle and enlarged the single brace slightly. I doubt it would effect the brightness; but who knows?

Maybe one day I'll shoot some pictures of the shop when I get it cleaned up and in some semblance of order. Right now I'm in the middle of adding on a paint/compressor/dust collector room addition. It's dried in but no where near being done.
