All this talk about templates reminded me of an excellent deal at Rockler.http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=21267 You can use the free shipping code V0110 too! This pattern bit is ideal for the thicknesses we deal with. It can also be used to reduce the template in 1/16" , 1/8", and 3/16" increments! Study it. Best $29 (normally $59) u will spend. 1/2" shank. I want the bigger one as well, but it is not on sale. Mike |

get them! I use pattern bits for shaping all arched braces, headstocks and some bridges. Even trimming the neck flush to the F.B. before carving! There are so many things you can do with them. I have top & bottom bearings ones. You'll find lots of ways of using them . Mike ![]() |

Apparently the free shipping code has changed, when I enter it in the catalog code box it comes back and says catalog code has been updated. Joe |

That's the wrong place to enter it. You do it at the end of checkout. I made the same mistake... Thought I mentioned that above... Sorry |

Thanks Mike! Now that's a deal, save $9 in shipping. Another funny thing, I tried several times today to order and it was just stuck in my cart, hit the checkout button and it would just reload my cart, couldn't get to checkout. Went to the site one more time and for some reason didn't enlarge my page a couple of clicks like I always do and it worked perfect. Tried again later just to see if it was a fluke, enlarged page wouldn't go to checkout, click it down a couple of times then no problem. Sure is hard keeping up with the kinks of technology! ![]() Joe |

Glad it worked for you Joe. My current application is for mold building. The harp guitar shap can be a PITA. So, once the mold is finished (it is) and the sides are in place, I'm using this bit to make new positive templates that are reduced 1/8" in size so that they will fit snugly inside the mold (with the sides in place) to assist with the neck block placement and bonding. And for the first application of lining. Also for making properly sized spreading cauls. I wished I had this bit when I was making the bending shapes, but I can still use it to reduce their size a bit. Mike |
