Filippo,

I may be able to help you out. I have a billet or two that came from Woodcraft boards that I sawed back and side sets out of, which are sized for more sides. These were S2S 5/4 if I remember correctly, and pretty well quartered which is why I picked them up. Let me know what size blank you are looking for and I'll load up a pic.

But why Padauk? Heavy for a neck, I'd think.

Filippo are you going to do any laminating for the neck? I have some stock I purchased specifically for necks but they are flat sawn so you would have to turn them on their side and laminate them. I think you might not be but it's worth asking.

Here's a neck I did with some of this stock. It's had other dyes used on it for shading but you get the idea.

At one time Gilmer had some 3x4x30 Paduk neck billets. Might be worth giving Marc a call.

Hi Filippo,
of it
My local lumberyard-M.L. Condon has tons of Padauk-last I checked they had a beautiful batch.
I think some of it is quartered.

You want a neck heavy guitar, Filippo? or is the body going to be heavy, too?

+1 for maple or walnut...

But if you still want to use padouk... maybe you could rout a channel and put some carbon fiber rods... ? It would make the neck less heavy and still more stable..? Just an idea, don't know if it's a good one..

My 2 cents!
Francis
