Does anyone have one of these they would like to get rid of, an extra element, or where I might find an element.

A barbeque starter would work well in place of that.

I gave away a homemade bender a few years ago with a very similar heating element, the main difference the base allowed it to be screwed into a light bulb socket.
It had originally been used in an old-time electric radiant heater.
If I were in your situation, I would take the heating element to an old-time hardware store, or take it to a kitchen stove repairman and see if the wire element itself might be replaced.

jack

Thanks for the tip - http://www.hudsonscustommachining.com/. I sent him an email - couldn't find them on his price list of oddities.

IN case anyone else is needing on of these old elements, here is the info:
They are $30 each, NOS still in the box, old but never used. State preference of 660 or 1,000 watts when ordering. Add $4.95 for priority postage carefully wrapped to insure they arrive in one piece.

Thanks again for the lead.
