Post subject:  Laminated heel w/ different woods?

I'm doing a build right now and I have the body complete and I'm moving onto the neck. I'm doing a laminated heel on the neck (mahogany), and I'm wondering what it would be like if I sandwiched a 3mm piece of ebony between the mahogany pieces. To visualize, there will be an ebony fingerboard, mahogany, ebony sandwich, mahogany, ebony, mahogany, and an ebony heel cap. It isn't going to be a very conventional looking guitar and it has a lot of ebony pieces on it. Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this.

Just one opinion, but... Unless you had some other "feature" on the guitar to balance the striped heel, I think it would be a bit jarring.
When doing a stacked heel, I orient the pieces to minimize the layered appearance.

I've seen that done before and it can look nice. Just be sure you can carve the heel symmetrically or the black bands will look funny

I did it with maple and mahogany. It was kind of jarring actually but this guitar had maple sides and a mahogany top and back. The neck also had a maple-mahogany-maple center stripe. TBH I didn't like the way it looked but some people thought it was cool.
