Hey guys I thought I would post my resaw set up jig I came up with. You cannot exactly tell from the picture so I thought a photo would go well with explanation. It mounts into the slot in the table of the band saw and into your resaw fence. The guide pushes or pulls your fence into your desired spot. The guide has T nuts mounted on the outer two bolts. These bolts are your pushers. The inner two bolts have T nuts mounted on the back side of the resaw fence. The inner bolts pull your fence in. In order to set this up you must set your drift angle. Once you have found your drift, you then clamp your fence onto your table with the same angle. It doesn't matter the distance from the blade just something less than an inch. Now cut a piece of scrap and measure the thickness of the piece. Write that number down! Time to mount your guide. Now run in your pulling bolts into your fence. Dont tighten them just get some threads in the t nuts. Now clamp your guide down. Measure using a caliper from your fence to the front of the guide and write down that number. Now measure from the back of your guide to your fence and write down that number. Now you have your thickness that the fence will cut at, and your front and back measurements. With our three numbers we can now adjust the fence with some accuracy. Just loosen the clamps on your resaw fence and adjust whether it be pull or push as long as you adjust with equal amounts front and back of the fence, you will keep your drift angle. With some simple math, you shouldn't have to hammer your fence into place any longer. Tips dont loosen your resaw fence too much, allow your bolts to do more of the work. I have found I got higher accuracy with that practice. I would use thicker bolts if you can for your fence. Thanks for checking this out. |
