Post subject:  Which archtop plans / book?

I've been sitting on a few lovely quilted maple boards for a year now, waiting to decide how to resaw them. They are thick enough to cut archtop backs, but only 7 5/8" wide after truing up the edges.
I want to try my hand at an archtop, but most I've seen are at least 16" at the lower bout.
So... I'm looking for a good plan that will fit the width limitation. I'm not averse to drawing up my own, but it'd be a confidence boost to work to a successful plan.
Also, recommendations on which of the archtop building books is the best to guide me through my first build.
Thanks. Dan

Hey Dan,

Check here:

And his book is the authority in archtop construction. As for width, either scale down a plan or add a wedge to your quilt, I have seen a flame wedge, bordered by thin black and it looks great.
