Can anyone on the forum assist in deciphering the date code on the bottle of Titebond I recently purchased?
Bought in the UK, the number is A004140043.

Thanks in advance,

Bill S.

Can't help with the code but if it smells like vinegar its too old. Same with all Yellow/White glue.

Cheers

The first digit represents A for America (made in), the second digit is the last digit of the year of manufacture, the third and fourth digits represent the month, the fifth and sixth digits represent the day of the month and the last four digits represent the lot number.

Well, if there is only one digit for the year, it could have been made in 2010,2000,1990 etc??? (though unlikely....)

I recall running into this problem with speaker codes and other components ??

Thanks guys, I'll go for 2010...It has a faint odour, but as John A. has indicated it's unlikely to have been sitting on the shelf for ten years or more.

Cheers

There is no chance that it was made any other year than 2010, since Franklin didn't change their number code system until 2009.

This is the new style code.

The glue was made in 2010.

It's only 5 months old - if stored correctly - then it should still be good. how does it look ?
