I came across an ad in our local Kijiji ( like craigs list in USA ) for some sandpaper and almost ignored it. That would have been a big mistake, the stuff is great and the price was great. I now have probably 5 or more years supply. My informed buddy PaulK from the forum and he had ignored the ad but has also stocked up and will probably get more. Here is the info This guy here in Windsor Ontario used to have a plant to cut, process and distribute Joest abrasives to North America here which he closed recently. He is selling the remaining products for $13 per hundred sheets 5" and 6" plus some uncut 1 meter wide roll stock. I just bought $160 worth and thought it might be a good opportunity for everyone. He has from 80 up to 1500 grit. This is a perferated hook and loop foam or non foam backed paper to use with vac system. One of the uses I had in mind for these products was RO sanding of my lacquer finish with a vac hose to the sander. I did the 1st flattening of my finish on the current build using the sander and 500 grit and it worked real well does not load up the paper as much as without the Vac. but the 500 was too fine for 1st step of the leveling so I have ordered some 400. OLF member PaulK who is a Pro Custom Furniture builder has also tried this product and has found the grits on this paper a little finer than expected. For me I like this as the finest available is 1500 and I was concerned about it being too course as a final grade before buffing. Now I think I will have no problems using the 1500 then buffing. When he drops of my 400 later today I will have enough paper for guitar work for a long time. I love the Vac sanding no dust and much less messy than wet sanding. Fred |

Thanks again for the tip, Fred. I put in an order yesterday- Robert Seke (the sandpaper seller) sounds like a very reasonable guy. Using the vac is something I should do more often when sanding (in addition to rolling up the garage door...) . It extends the paper life quite a lot, as you are not sanding dust. For fine finishing before buffing, I like the Abralon pads, which I get from WoodEssence in SK. They are foam and washable/rinsable. Cheers John |
