I have some old mahogany molding, that is big enough for an OM and for three piece back for dreads or bigger.I have about 30 board feet of this really nice old growth mahogany that would be great for guitars, but I don't have a band saw. Does anyone know where I could get this wood resawn? I got it all for free, so if I pay a few hundred bucks I'm still ahead of the game. |

I'd call the lutherie wood suppliers (RC Tonewoods, etc) to see if they'll saw it for you, or call Borson resaw. As Chris says, acceptable resaw standards are different. Many cabinetmakers would be happy with three slices to an inch, whereas a proper precision resaw will get you six. |

careful with the brad nails that may have been used to attach that molding to the wall. Let the person resawing know where the wood came from - and they should use a metal detector to take out the metal first. |

John, There are a few hole from where the nails once held up the molding, but i don't see any hole. I guess it is always a goo idea to go over it any way. Robert, I'm on long island |
