So I was gluing up a neck on the weekend, and obviously not paying enough attention. But got it glued up only to find the headstock angle way off. I was aiming for around 15 degrees and it's closer to 30!

I'm going to scrap the neck, but was just wondering what effect this would have if I did build with it?

Any idea?

Neil

You'll get a really solid contact with the nut! Mandolins have a really high angle at the P/H. It might not fit in the case at 30 degrees though...

Cant you separate the join, adjust the angle and re-glue?

It would tend to be weaker the steeper you made the angle.

Also, you might not find a suitable case!

I had this exact same thing happen a couple of years ago and asked the same question. Here's the link:

I'd love to hear if there's any other feedback on a steeper neck angle improving playability or tone. I still have my two necks and plan to build with them.
