Hi The Stewart Mc Donald guidance suggest that the plastic sleeve provided with their dovetail bit can go above and below the guide bearing, this suggests that the bearing moves up and down the shaft. I have one and it seems very much fixed to me, would you agree ? John Extract from website When using the cutter bit, there should be a gap between the template and the neck or body, to ensure proper contact of the bearing against the template, and the correct depth of cut. It may be necessary to use two pieces of TeflonĀ® tubing on the cutter bit, one above and one below the guide bearing. |

While your at it, you might want to buy a 1/4" i.d. stop collar. Although it might work fine, I'm wary of the plastic sleeve's durability. I substituted said stop collar on my Stew Mac dovetail bit. |
