This is from an abandoned storage unit here in the yard where I work, both renting storage units, and my shop, which is paid for by renting storage units, and every now and then, there is something good left behind.
Walnut board: 19 x 60 x 2, couple of big knots, but some figure on the sides, not sure how to use it, def and electric in there, but at 2 inches, I can bookmatch the edges to carve a back, I start with 1", but the kerf won't be too much, and then some chisels, files and yes, even a couple of gouges. On top is a brown and sharp caliper in 32nds with a nice dove tail slide, this thing is smoooooth. There is the Stanley drill guide, dividers (Starrett), and the sticks are file handles some one made, but not very well, all cracked, but some may have some life in them.
Looks like I have some guitars to build.

There was really quite a bit of loot in these two units, the owner will sell the units outright, so I was allowed to rummage a bit for free, leaving the stuff that the buyer will want, bicycles, table saws, chain saws, beer making equipment. I also scored a spotting scope, pretty nice. So the score was free, but really I do work for it, I really hustle to rent the units, carry a second cell phone for the yard all the time, and I do keep the place pretty full, so this is sort of a thank you from the owner, who really likes to see me use the stuff and build things, hence the great deal on my shop space, which includes a brand new Shopsmith that was also left in a unit.

I was going to stay away from fancy figured stuff until after guit #5 or 10 or so, but this may get used on guit #4, as my thoughts are save the good wood for when I am good at it, but use what I have, so we will see what happens, still have to finish #2, and start #3 before worrying about #4, but it is nice to have wood lined up.

Tim,
Wow, nice haul, looks like some nice spokeshaves and planes, anything stick out as something you always wanted? I was particularly happy with a couple of gouges, the narrow chisels, and the hole jig, the big chisels won't get much use.

Any other great scores? Let's see 'em,
Rob

I had been looking for old planes all summer at the sales around here, but everyone wanted antique store prices for them.
This old man had the whole box sitting amongst a lot of other junk. I asked him what he wanted for all of it. He said make an offer, so I did, LOL.

If anyone sees anything in here, they need just let me know.

That's a good deal! I love spokeshaves, but I have several, and am happy with them.

Whoa, that's some great stuff there Tim! Spokeshaves everywhere.

If you want to sell off more of it, I have my eye on the red handled drill in the top center, any of those hammers for tapping frets in, and that thing that looks like it would be good for splitting brace stock :) I've been having a time getting it to split cleanly with a chisel that's just a little too small.

Is the drill, or the other crank drill above the planes, double geared? Mine is similar to the one by the planes, but single geared and wobbles like crazy. Sometimes I can drill straight holes with it if I try hard enough, but usually they come out a tad crooked despite my best efforts.

For splitting brace stock, I recommend a 3" cold chisel, sharpened then dulled to a non cutting edge. Works great. Gives you a handle, and you can hit it with heavy steel.

Sorry, for the delay. My wife's van blew a head gasket on Friday and I have been tearing apart the engine for the last few days.

Cool thing is, I scored a bunch of new tools, bad thing is, none are luthier related. LOL

Let me know what you want.

Free plus shipping.

All the spokeshaves are missing the blades. I will look around and see if I have an extra one or two. Should be pretty easy to fashion one out of an old plane blade or some other kind of steel.

Hammers are small brass head hammers.

The hand drill are all froze up, mine was the same way when I got it a couple of monthe ago. Take it apart and clean it up, it will be fine.

If there is something else from the top pictures that you are interested in just let me know.

Just putting this out there, doesn't affect the "deal", I am in need of nut files and fret files/tools. If you have any let me know.

Lance and Brock, if this isn't allowed in a thread outside classifieds, TOUGH, Get over it! Sorry, I forgot it is your forum not mine. Just take it down, if I am in violation. Just wanted to share the wealth and am not making a penny.

Ya'll have a great day.
