Yes I'm still glowing from getting this strung up, it sounds incredible too. I put some fingerprints on what will be #2, an anigre b/s, lutz top size 5, against Todd's advice of doing another full body guitar - sorry teach! That'll be on hold for a month while I drive out to Seattle with some friends but that's whats next for me. Thanks again Todd, and thanks to everyone I met who gave me kind words, advice and encouragement.

Here's some closer up shots of the first go-round.

You're going to love the anigre back/sides. May I suggest that you go with a Carpathian spruce top. I have that on mine and it is unbelievable. From the first day it was strung, the harder you push the guitar, the more it gives back.

I saw your guitar up at John's, you did a great job with it.

Enjoy and play loud.

Hi Rachael-

That is a sweet guitar - I like cedar and redwood topped fingerstyle guitars with mahogany back/sides. The headstock is really great looking - I haven't seen anything like that outside of some high-end archtops. It's different and really cool.

Good luck with #2 and keep building em' - you obviously have talent. You'll keep the rest of us honest.

Nice work. If you are having difficulty getting your pictures to come out because of reflection, try taking pictures just after sunrise or as the sun sets. Colorful sunsets may throw the color off a bit, but they should look even nicer as long as it's not too dark. Otherwise try another day. the suns colors at dusk and dawn are the best lighting an artist can get, be it a painter or a photographer.

John Singer Sargent painted this painting every day at dusk for about 2 or 3 minutes a day from August to November in 1885 and 1886. It's lighting is considered perfect.

As the sun gets lower in the sky the intensity goes down along with reflections, which makes the times around dusk and dawn the perfect time of day for pictures. Just make sure the sun is behind you to the left or right and not in front of you. Good luck.

Keep up the good work Rachel, nice pictures of a real nice guitar, you showed the guitar and its details well. I enjoyed meeting you at Blue Creek seeing your guitar.

Good luck on number 2

Great work, congratulations, the headstock is unique and intriguing, the wood fb inlay is very tasteful as one who likes the decorations simple, Welcome to the class of 2010.
Instead of self indulgent (generally deemed a bad trait) , how about proud, kids these days, try to take pride in their work, but out society of lazy people are ready to knock you down and belittle accomplishments, personally, I think this seemingly minor semantic is the underlying evil of the American Idol mindset, sound mental health IMO requires people to make these personal accomplishments and be proud of them. Pride and joy, build a guitar and it is like this well of happiness in our lives springs open, any time we can enjoy a gaze and a strum, and know that having done this, with patience and help, we can surmount any of seeming obstacles in out lives. This attitude is sound mental health to me, and it starts with being proud of our accomplishments.
"Problem with kids these days" mini rant over,
love the guitar
Rob
